IdleMMO FAQ
15 questions new players ask in their first week, answered in a few lines each. The longer explanations are in the beginner series; each answer here links to the page that goes deeper.
Starting out
Is IdleMMO pay to play?
No. Membership is optional, and the official introduction says it is bought with in-game gold. It gives no combat power. What it does give is quality of life plus some skilling speed: 8 hours of idle time instead of 6, +15% EXP on actions that support EXP boosts, +10% skill efficiency and a market limit of 25 listings and orders instead of 10. [1, 2]
What should I do first?
Mine coal until you have a couple dozen, sell about half, buy bait, fish cod, cook it with the rest of your coal (one coal per fish), then fight rabbits with that food in your bag. That is the starter route the official wiki recommends, and every step feeds the next. [1]
How long does my character keep working while I'm offline?
6 hours by default, 8 with membership. After that the character stops and sits idle until you queue something new, so the habit to build is queuing a long action right before you log off. [1]
How many characters can I have?
Up to 5 characters per account, with 3 active at once. Most players run one combat character and use the other slots for gathering or crafting. [1]
Which class should I pick?
For a fighter, Warrior, Shadowblade or Ranger: they are the only classes with battle talents, unlocked at levels 10, 35 and 70. For a skiller, pick the specialist class for that skill, for example Chef for cooking. Most classes can be changed later with Metamorphite. [3, 1]
Gold and the market
How do I get gold fast as a beginner?
Sell part of what you gather instead of hoarding it. The wiki quotes coal at around 5 gold each and bait at around 2 when it was written, which is why the coal and cod loop pays for itself. Later on, recipes from dungeons sell well. Check live prices before you commit to a plan. [1]
How does the market work, and what does it cost?
You can list items for sale or place purchase orders. A new listing is checked against open orders, so it can sell instantly. Unsold listings are removed after 90 days. Purchase orders carry a base fee of 15% of the order total (12% for members) that is not refunded if the order expires, plus a fee for longer durations. [4]
Pets, bosses and dungeons
How do I get a pet?
World bosses are the main source: they drop pet eggs, and the introduction calls them the best way to get pets. Pets also come from campaigns, the market and the Companion Exchange. Eggs need time to incubate, longer for higher quality, and an incubating pet cannot be equipped or listed. [1, 5]
How do world bosses work?
They spawn on a schedule. Queue for one ahead of time and your character fights automatically when the event starts, even if you are not watching. [1]
When can I start doing dungeons?
When your combat stats reach 70% of a dungeon's difficulty. At exactly 70% you lose all your health, at 100% about half, and above 130% you lose very little and get a Magic Find bonus. The first one, Millstone Mines, is level 3 in Bluebell Hollow, costs 300 gold and takes 2 hours. [6, 1]
Do pets make my character stronger?
Yes. An equipped pet adds all of its current stats to your character, one pet at a time. Pets can evolve up to 5 times for +5% to their chosen stat bonus each time, and evolving resets the pet to level 1 while keeping the bonus. [5]
Guilds and the game itself
Should I join a guild?
Yes, once you are settled. Guilds give bonuses and unlock Assaults and Raids. A guild holds 20 members at guild level 1, rising to 25 at level 100. If you leave or get kicked you wait 24 hours before joining another. [1, 7]
Will IdleMMO be reset when it leaves open beta?
No. The official FAQ says the game will not be reset. [8]
Who makes IdleMMO?
Galahad Creative Ltd, a software company based in England. This site is an unofficial fan tool and is not connected to them. [8]
