IdleMMO Beginner's Guide
IdleMMO runs while you don't. A character keeps working through a queued action for up to 6 hours (8 with membership) before stopping, so the game rewards showing up, queuing something sensible, and leaving. The first hour is about starting an economy loop that funds itself. Here is the one the official wiki recommends, with the reasoning attached.
The first-hour loop
- Mine coal for several minutes, until you have a couple dozen pieces. Coal is the fuel for cooking later, and it sells.
- Sell about half your coal on the market (it trades around 5 gold each). This is your starting capital.
- Buy bait (about 2 gold each) and fish for cod. Fishing is also the strongest level-1 XP rate in our skill rankings.
- Cook the cod, one coal per cook. Cooked fish is your healing food for combat and sells if you stockpile too much.
- Fight rabbits once you have food to heal with. They're the gentlest target in the enemy database.
- Sell the surplus fish and keep the loop rolling.
Why this works: it touches Mining, Fishing, Cooking and Combat in one sitting, every output feeds the next step, and you end the hour with gold instead of spending it.
Set up your roster early
An account holds up to 5 characters with 3 active at a time, and each character has a permanent class bonus. The split that serves most players: a combat class (Warrior, Shadowblade or Ranger) on your main to unlock hunts and dungeons, and skill classes on the other two slots. The classes guide has every bonus with exact numbers; class can be changed later with a vendor item, so nothing is ruined by a first pick.
Where to spend your idle hours
Once the loop is stable, the question becomes what to queue before you log off. Two habits pay off from day one:
- Queue the best rate for your level. Each skill calculator ranks every resource by XP per hour with 1h/4h/8h projections. Read the top row you qualify for, queue it, leave.
- Time your logins around world bosses. The boss timers show every spawn window. Bosses drop companion eggs; the pets guide maps which boss drops which egg.
Later goals to keep on the horizon: dungeons for big combat XP once your level supports them, the Bartering tool for squeezing more gold from what you gather, and eventually a village, a whole idle economy of its own that opens up as your Village Mastery grows.
Frequently asked questions
What should I do first in IdleMMO?
Mine coal for a few minutes, sell about half on the market (coal trades around 5 gold), buy bait (about 2 gold each), fish cod, then cook the cod with your remaining coal. That loop funds itself and levels three skills at once.
How long does my character keep working while I'm away?
Actions idle for up to 6 hours before stopping (8 hours with membership). Queue something long before you log off and clear it when you return.
How many characters can I have?
Up to 5 on one account, with 3 active at a time. A common setup is one combat-class character plus two skill-class characters working in parallel.
When should I fight my first monster?
Once you have a weapon and some cooked food for healing, start with rabbits — the lowest-level target in the enemy database — and work up as your combat level grows.
