How Idle and Offline Progress Works
In this guide
The whole game hangs on one number: how long your character keeps working after you stop looking. By default that is 6 hours. With membership it is 8 hours. When the limit runs out the character stops and waits for you, no matter how much of the queued action was left.
What that means in practice
Close the game in the middle of a mining session and the mining carries on. Come back after 3 hours and you find 3 hours of ore. Come back after 12 hours and you find 6 hours of ore and a character that has been standing around for the other 6. Nothing is lost, but nothing is gained either.
So the useful habit is simple: check in roughly every six hours you are awake, and queue the longest sensible action right before you sleep. If you keep a regular schedule, that last queue is the one that matters most. It covers the biggest gap of the day.
Picking an overnight action
- Gathering is safest. Mining uses no materials, so it cannot stall. Fishing needs bait, so buy enough for the whole window before you go.
- Crafting stops when inputs run out. Cooking needs fish and coal, smelting needs ore and coal. Make sure you have enough for six hours, or the action ends early.
- Our calculators project 1, 4 and 8 hours. The 8-hour column on each skill calculator assumes 8 uninterrupted hours. Without membership, your real cap is 6.
Dungeons and the idle limit
Dungeons let you chain runs, up to the maximum idle time your character has. The catch is health. Every run costs some, and how much depends on how your combat stats compare with the dungeon's difficulty. The wiki's own example: a run that costs 60% of your health cannot be chained, because two runs would cost 120% and you would be defeated. Only chain dungeons you clear comfortably. The starter dungeon, Millstone Mines, takes 2 hours a run, so a 6-hour window fits three runs if your health holds.
World bosses run without you
World bosses spawn on a schedule. If you queue for one, your character fights automatically when the event starts. You do not need to be online. The boss timers show the next spawn so you can queue before you log off.
Is membership worth it for the idle time?
Two extra hours a day is the headline, and the official introduction is clear that membership is optional, gives no combat power, and is bought with in-game gold. It also adds +15% EXP on actions that take EXP boosts, +10% skill efficiency and a bigger market limit (25 listings and orders instead of 10). If you check in only twice a day, it is the first upgrade worth saving for. If you play in short bursts all day, the 6-hour cap rarely bites and you can wait.
