Malignant spider is open to every clan. Skeleton warrior needs 25 kills of each of the six key bosses. Otherworldly golem needs 2,500 of each plus 250 Kronos kills. Fight with as many members as you can, keep food stocked, and buy Keep 'em coming early.

Health and weakness from the game data, max hit from the wiki's Bossing page. The "key bosses" are Griffin, Devil, Hades, Zeus, Medusa and Chimera; Sobek does not count. Ironman clans have lower thresholds: 12 kills of each for the Skeleton warrior, and 250 of each plus 25 Kronos for the Golem.

The health numbers above are for normal clans. The game data scales them down for Ironman modes: the Spider has 500 health for Ironman, the Skeleton warrior 2,500, and the Golem 2,500 for Ironman and 12,500 for Group Ironman. Each boss page here lists its loot table with drop shares.

How the fight works

A clan boss fight can start with any number of members, up to the clan limit of 20, and members can join or leave while it runs. Everyone's attacks are synced, and the damage is added together into one strike. On each of its turns the boss attacks every member in the fight, with a separate attack roll for each of you. So a bigger group kills faster, but nobody is shielded by being in a crowd.

Food is eaten automatically once you drop below 99% Health, and the wiki says Picky eater applies automatically in boss fights. If you die, you lose loot eligibility for that fight unless you rejoin before the boss dies, and there is a one-minute cooldown on rejoining. When the boss dies, everyone who died is revived. If every member dies or leaves, the fight ends.

Kills count on both the player and the clan leaderboards, and a clan kill counts once no matter how many members took part. Clan bosses do not pay clan credits per kill. Credits come from the weekly Clan cup instead, which ranks clans on kill count and kill speed.

Why the Spider and Skeleton are good XP

The wiki points out that the Malignant spider and Skeleton warrior have large health pools and fairly low defence. Combat XP is paid per point of damage, and clan bosses can be over-hit: the wiki says all the experience is awarded even when your damage goes past the boss's remaining health. On a regular monster that overkill is wasted. Arrows are not used up in boss fights either, which makes archery cheaper here than anywhere else. The +30% daily XP boost works, and so do the Pure Power, Dark Magic, Great Sight and Ancient Knowledge potions. Swiftness does nothing, because the attack intervals in a boss fight are fixed.

The wiki also notes that the Teamwork and Strength in numbers bonuses do not seem to affect boss fights, so do not count on them.

Modifiers: what to buy with clan credits

Modifiers are bought with clan credits, tier by tier, and they all expire at the daily reset at 12:00 AM UTC. There are two kinds: a faster attack speed tier and extra loot rolls per kill. The base is 3 loot rolls.

BossAttack speed tiers (credits)4 loot rolls5 loot rolls
Malignant spider250, then 5001,2502,500
Skeleton warrior250, then 5002,5005,000
Otherworldly golem1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,00010,00020,000

Because modifiers reset every day, they only pay off on days your clan actually fights. The sensible pattern is to agree a boss night, buy the modifiers that morning, and get as many members in as you can. Going from 3 to 4 loot rolls is a third more loot per kill, which is easy to justify on a Golem day; on the Spider the cheap speed tiers are the obvious first buy. Credit costs from the game data are on the clan bosses page.

Clan upgrades for bossing

Keep 'em coming costs 5,000 credits and restarts boss fights automatically with no respawn timer. It has no skill requirement, so it is usually the first boss upgrade a clan buys. Clan boss slayers costs 50,000 credits and gives a 10% damage boost against clan bosses, but it also needs one Spider fang, one Ancient bone and one Golem fragment sitting in the clan vault. Each of those drops at 1 in 2,000. Only the leader and deputies can buy upgrades.

The three vault items can also be broken down into Otherworldly essence: 3,000 for a Spider fang, 15,000 for an Ancient bone and 200,000 for a Golem fragment. Keep one of each for the upgrade before you break any down.

Getting your clan to the Golem

The Golem requirement is the long one: 2,500 kills of each of six bosses is 15,000 boss kills, plus 250 Kronos. Every Valley of Gods kill also pays each participant 12 clan credits (15 with Premium), so the grind funds itself. The Yoink clan upgrade (Agility 60, 17,500 credits) gives a 15% chance to keep a key when entering a boss lair, which stretches every key your members farm. Our mid game guide covers the key bosses, and the clan XP guide shows how the top clans rank.
