Slayer arrives as a contract-based combat skill with per-enemy ranks, the Tavern goes half forum, half chat, and primary stats and meditation get ascension.

The big one this month. Slayer is a new combat skill, and you don't train it by just fighting: you generate a contract for an enemy, and every qualifying kill while it's active gives Slayer XP plus Rank Points for that specific enemy. Milestones inside the contract pay out shards.

  • Contracts last 24 hours. You can hold 3 personal and 3 party contracts, 6 total.
  • Random contracts are free; picking a specific enemy costs a gold fee.
  • Your Slayer level gates which enemies you can roll a contract for, so a level 1 Slayer can't take a contract on a level 100 enemy.
  • Higher target level means more kills required and a bigger reward. Slayer level also raises shard rewards and your maximum health.
  • Ranking up an enemy gives a permanent damage boost against that enemy.
  • Party contracts share milestone rewards across the party, and the party is locked while any contract is active.

The Tavern changed shape too. General and Off-topic merged into one running conversation (Support works the same way), with replies that quote the message you're answering. Guilds, Trades, Games, LFG and Suggestions keep separate topics. The devs called it experimental and said they'd revert it if it just brought more spam.

Smaller bits: ascension for primary stats and for meditation, pinnable pages in the web app, a Recipe Owned filter for alchemy, Spanish and Vietnamese, a fix for Village Mastery storage repairs not charging correctly, and the public API dropped the deprecated last_activity field. Follow-up v0.82.1 (12 Sep) added Slayer leaderboards and fixed rank point distribution on party contracts.
