SimpleMMO beginner guide

What to do in your first SimpleMMO session

SimpleMMO opens a lot of systems at once. The first session has one job: use your quest points and energy, travel while they refill, finish the starter quests that teach the interface, and leave the market and premium shop alone until you have a reason to use them. This is editorial help, not a live database — it describes the public loop, not current drop tables or prices.

The opening sequence

1. Finish character setup, then travel

Create the character and leave the customization screen. The main action is Travel: each step costs a step point, not energy, and can turn up gold, XP, items or an NPC fight. Everything else (quests, the arena, market, guilds) sits around that loop. If you are not sure what to do, travel.

2. Spend energy, do not hoard it

Energy and quest points regenerate on a timer, one point every 5 minutes. A full bar wastes the regeneration you would have earned. Spend quest points on quests and energy in the Battle Arena, then travel while both refill.

3. Open the quest log before you wander far

Starter quests tell you where the buttons are and pay you for doing things you were going to do anyway. Accept them, travel, and turn them in as soon as they complete. Do not start a long optional chain until the first-session quests are clear.

4. Check daily tasks once

Dailies reset on a timer and are the structured reason to log in tomorrow. Pick ones that match travel you already planned — kill, collect, or visit — instead of taking a daily that sends you somewhere you have not unlocked.

5. Pick a profession once you know your build

The old jobs system became professions in version 12.51. A profession gives a permanent bonus stat that grows with rank, so pick one whose stat you actually need. Our jobs and professions guide explains the change.

6. Join a guild when the option appears

Guilds, world bosses, and group content are the long-term game. You do not need perfect gear to join. A quiet guild that actually runs bosses beats waiting until your stats look “ready.”

What each system is for

Travel

The idle loop. Each step costs a step point and can produce gold, XP, an NPC fight, or loot. Treat it as the default action for the first several levels. New locations unlock as you level; you do not need to hunt for a “best” zone on day one.

Quests

A checklist with a reward. Early quests exist to teach the UI. If a quest asks you to travel, fight, or talk, do that instead of inventing a side project. Abandon a quest only if it requires a location or item you clearly do not have yet.

Battle Arena

Where your energy goes. Each fight costs a small gold fee that scales with your level, and beaten opponents drop an item 60% of the time. Bank your gold before you log off: a player who kills you can take some of your pocket gold, but not what's in the bank.

Market

Useful later, expensive now. You have no price memory on a new account. Buying “upgrades” from other players in the first session is how new characters go broke. Vendor trash, keep quest items, and bookmark the market for week two.

Guilds and bosses

This is where SimpleMMO stops being a single-player travel sim. Join when you can, show up for the boss you are invited to, and do not wait for a perfect loadout. Social systems are the content the travel loop feeds into.

Premium currency

Diamonds and similar shop currency are easy to waste on cosmetics, energy refills, or loot boxes before you know what is scarce. Spend nothing from the shop in the first session. If you ever do spend, spend on something you already use every day — not a surprise roll.

A worked first hour

  1. Spend your quest points on the first quests and your energy in the Battle Arena, then travel. Note what the encounters actually are — combat, events, NPCs — so the next session is not a surprise.
  2. Open the quest log. Turn in anything that completed during that travel. Accept the next short quest, not the longest one on the list.
  3. Check dailies. Take at most two that match the area you are already in.
  4. When both bars are empty, bank your gold and look at the guild list. Join one. Then close the tab.

That is a complete first session. You used the core loop, learned where the checklists live, and kept your gold safe. The game will have more for you when energy refills.

What not to optimize yet

Do not buy player-market gear

You cannot tell a fair price from a listing aimed at new accounts. Travel loot and quest rewards cover the first stretch.

Do not sit on full energy

A full bar is wasted regeneration. Arena first, then travel while it refills.

Do not skip the quest log

The open-ended map feels noisy because it is. Quests are the filter. Use them until travel itself is the habit.

Source boundary

This section does not scrape SimpleMMO or call its account-key API. The walkthrough is original advice about the public loop: travel costs steps, energy goes to the arena, quests structure the early game, and the market is a later tool. Game facts come from the official update notes and the community wiki. Specific drop rates, current shop prices, and patch-by-patch numbers are omitted on purpose — those go stale, and this site will not invent them. If a quest or menu name has moved in a later update, tell us.
