How to level up fast in SimpleMMO

Leveling fast in SimpleMMO is mostly about not wasting regeneration. Quest points and energy refill on a timer whether you use them or not, so the fastest players are the ones who never let a bar sit full. After that it comes down to picking the right quest, using the arena, and showing up for world bosses.

How much XP a level costs

The community wiki documents the curve as 50 × your level: level 1 needs 50 XP to reach level 2, level 100 needs 5,000, and level 1,000 needs 50,000. That's linear per level, so the total grows with the square of your level: reaching level 100 takes 247,500 XP in total, and level 1,000 takes 24,975,000.

Where XP comes from

Quests (quest points)

Each attempt costs 1 quest point, and a failed quest still costs the point. Your chance of success comes from Dexterity and is shown as a percentage before you start. The wiki also lists a permanent +0.5% XP and +0.5% gold bonus for completing quests. Since version 12.51 you can auto-perform quests and run up to 5 at a time.

Battle Arena (energy)

Energy pays for arena fights. Each fight charges a gold fee that grows with your level, and a beaten opponent has a 60% chance to drop an item. Use energy as it refills; a full energy bar is wasted regeneration.

Travel (steps)

Stepping costs no energy. A step can give gold or XP (anywhere from 1 up to your current level), an item up to 8 levels above you, an NPC fight, or just travel text. It's the filler between refills, not your main source of XP.

World bosses

New bosses spawn every Monday at 12:00 London time: 12 normal bosses and 1 god boss, which pays 3× rewards. Helping kill one gives 8×, 12× or 16× your level in XP, and you need to land at least two hits to qualify.

Abyss Gates

Added in the 2026 Community Event (v12.86): you fight hordes of monsters, alone or with a party. Version 12.87 buffed the experience-room and energy-room rewards and capped the experience scaling at 40 cleared rooms.

Event XP buffs

Events regularly hand out temporary XP boosts, such as the team buff after the 2026 Community Event and the card-collection buff after the World Cup event. Save quest points and energy refills for when a buff is running.

Why world bosses matter at every level

A boss gives 8–16× your level in XP, and your next level costs 50× your level. Your level cancels out, so a single boss kill is always worth 16% to 32% of a level-up, whether you're level 50 or level 50,000. Very few XP sources keep their value like that, so plan around Monday spawns.

The leveling routine, in order

  1. Spend quest points first. Choose the highest-reward quest you can pass close to 100% of the time. A 70% quest wastes 3 points in every 10.
  2. Spend energy in the arena. Fight in your current league until the fee or the losses stop paying for themselves.
  3. Travel while both bars refill. Points come back on the 5-minute mark, so short, frequent sessions beat one long one.
  4. Hit every world boss you can. Two hits qualify you, and the reward scales with your level.
  5. Put stat points into Dexterity early. It raises quest success. Our stats guide covers when to switch.
  6. Mushrooms of energy refill energy and have a daily cap (the wiki lists 110, or 150 with Plebeian membership). Buy them only if arena fights are paying more than they cost.

Common leveling mistakes

Full bars

Every 5 minutes a full quest or energy bar sits capped is regeneration you'll never get back.

Quests you can't pass

Failed quests pay nothing and still cost a point. Step down a quest until your Dexterity catches up.

Skipping bosses

"I'm too weak" doesn't apply: you only need two hits, and the boss pays 16–32% of a level.
